In 1985,  Sony  introduced the Handycam, one of the first Video8 cameras with commercial success. Much smaller than the competition’s VHS video cameras, Video8 became very popular in the consumer camcorder market.

It is worth noting that camcorders made for USA and Latin America recorded video in NTSC, a TV system different to Autralian PAL System.
